2014 International Energy Workshop

The 33rd edition of the International Energy Workshop (IEW) was hosted by the Energy Research Institute and China University of Mining and Technology, in Beijing, on June 04–06, 2014.

About Energy Research Institute
Energy Research Institute (ERI-NDRC), which was established in 1980, is a national research organization conducting comprehensive studies on China’s energy issues. ERI’s research mainly focuses on the fields of energy economics, energy efficiency, energy environment & climate change and renewable energy. In recent years, ERI has recently accomplished around hundreds of projects related to energy strategy, medium and long term energy planning, energy policies, energy efficiency, climate change and renewable energy development as well as energy consultation projects.

About China University of Mining and Technology, Beijing
China University of Mining & Technology, Beijing (CUMTB) is a state key university with mining features and have more than 100 years history, established in 1909, originally in the name of Jiaozuo School of Railroad and Mines. Being listed into the national “985 Project” and the “211 project”, it is one of the first universities for the Strategic Alliance of Industrial Technology Innovation and one of the first universities authorized to confer doctor and master degrees.
Center for Resources and Environmental Policy Research of CUMTB was established in Oct. 2012 by Prof. Xu Xiangyang; it is a policy research center, focussed on key issues and problems in resources management and environment policy in China. It provides decision support and consulting service to government, NGO and agency. Main research areas are: Green economy growth and development, resources management, Carbon Finance and management and Technology Innovation.

IEW 2014 was focused on:
•    Climate change – mitigation and adaptation
•    Economics of low-carbon technologies
•    Co-linkages of climate, air pollution and energy security
•    Energy and economic growth in Asia and other emerging economies
•    Energy, water and land

Program Committee
The selection of submitted papers and long abstracts was directed and made by the IEW Program Committee, which included, among others, the IEW co-directors and the 2014 co-organisers

IEA-ETSAP meetings
Back to back with IEW 2014, the IEA-ETSAP meetings were held in Beijing as follows: from Wednesday to Friday, May 28th - 30th, the TIMES training course; on Monday June 2nd, the regular ETSAP workshop; on Tuesday morning June 3rd, the ETSAP-TIAM model meeting; on Tuesday afternoon June 3rd, the Executive Committee meeting.
